In King County, access to play depends on household income, primary language spoken at home, and zip code. One Roof Foundation works to break down barriers to all form of play by funding sport courts , providing ball hockey equipment to Title-1 schools, and implementing financial assistance programs to youth.
Financial Assistance
We are expanding access to programs at Kraken Community Iceplex by connecting with schools and community organizations to partner with low income families and underrepresented youth to build an equitable and inclusive hockey culture in the region.

Training the next generation of skaters
At One Roof Foundation, we’re on a mission to open doors to a world of possibilities on the ice and dedicated to providing opportunities to skate for the next generation.
ReWA Program
At the heart of our partnership with Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA), lies a powerful vision: to create a level playing field in the world of ice skating and hockey. By partnering with ReWA, we’re bridging gaps and forging pathways to a brighter, more inclusive future.
For 32 exciting weeks each year, we sponsor 80 preschoolers from ReWA Early Learning Centers and their introduction to ice sports. Each week these young adventurers embark on a journey to Kraken Community Iceplex where they not only hone their skating skills in an extensive Learn to Skate course, but also nurture qualities like discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence.
Field Trips
For Title 1 schools and youth-based non-profits who are interested in a skating field trip at Kraken Community Iceplex, let us help cover the cost! We will ensure a seamless and memorable experience for students, teachers, and chaperones.

MultiSport Courts
Parks are more than just places to play, they’re spaces that promote inclusivity, unity, and growth. We are committed to building multisport courts across the region, empowering local neighborhoods, and inspiring the next generation of athletes. By providing more accessible multi-use spaces, we’re creating opportunities for everyone to participate in hockey, on and off the ice.

These courts are carefully designed to meet the unique needs of each neighborhood. From street hockey to basketball and futsal, our goal is to create spaces that cater to a diverse range of interests and ages.
Ball Hockey
Ball hockey is a great way to introduce kids to the sport of hockey without the need for ice time or expensive equipment! Schools across Washington can request ball hockey equipment donations to bring this exciting sport to their students. With support from Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, we’ve developed a curriculum that allows schools to integrate ball hockey into regular physical education classes or even start extracurricular hockey programs—all within the convenience of a gym.
